Windows recently did an update that has caused issues with OpenTX controllers on all windows machines (Nothing to do with the sims.. but with windows and controllers unfortunately)...
Here are a couple options to try.. however please be sure to check the cable being used that it either hasn't gone bad, or perhaps using a charging cable rather than a data cable.
Update Driver
1. Open Device Manager
2. Click arrow next to libusb_win32 to expand
3. Right-click and select properties on BETTER_USB_HS
4. Select Driver tab
5. Click Update Driver
6. Select Browse my computer for driver software
7. Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
8. Select USB Input Device
9. Next Open DRL SIM and test
*** See attached picture that goes with these instructions.
FYI if you do not have libusb-win32 devices driver then... Please "show hidden files" from the "View" button at the top of your "Device Manager" screen. If you still dont see it, follow the steps below:
1 Windows Key + R and type 'control printers'
2. In the device list find "FrSky Taranis Joystick" or "T16"
3. Right click, select properties and select the hardware tab
4. Select Properties at the bottom of the hardware tab and then click change settings
5. Select the Driver tab
6. Select update driver
7. Don't auto search - this is where Windows trips up. Select Browse my computer for driver, and then select let me pick from a list of available drivers
8. You will now see two (maybe more) options, BETTER_USB_HS is the bad driver, and USB input Device is the one you want
9. Click next and reboot
10. Verify Joystick works by pressing Windows R and type 'joy.cpl' and then enter. (a small box will appear titled "Game Controllers"
11. "FrSky Taranis Joystick" or "T16" should be visible in the panel now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If updating the driver did not work for you.. You can try the Rollback option.
Instructions below...
1. Connect your controller by USB (FrSky / Jumper etc)
2. Open Devices and Printers in the settings menu
3. Open Device Manager
4. Look for libusb-win32 devices and select BETTER_USB_US within.
5. Right click and choose Properties > Driver
6. Select Rollback Driver
If the controller appears in the Windows Game Controller box... that means that windows is now detecting the controller AND its inputs, which will allow it to be seen in the DRL Sim now.
If None of these options worked for you, you can uninstall the driver, then turn off the controller and unplug it. Plug the controller back in, and this should trigger the newest driver to install. Then rolling back the driver to the previous one, should fix the issue and allow you to see the controller in the Windows Game Controller box.
Here is a user created video that may help. Note this is not affiliated with DRL. https://youtu.be/sRoAB1IOclg
If none of these instructions work for you, we will have to troubleshoot other ways. If this is the case.. Please submit a help ticket here. Thank you!
